Kayla and Guy’s wedding weekend was the perfect mix of heartfelt moments, vibrant details, unforgettable surprises, and absolute chaos in the best possible way. They first met in college while Kayla was in a sorority and Guy was in a fraternity. Like many modern love stories, it all really started with Instagram. Guy posted a photo that caught Kayla’s attention, and she decided to reach out. Fast forward to Fourth of July weekend at Guy’s mom’s house on Lake Neuse. Both families were together enjoying the holiday weekend, and although Guy knew a proposal was coming at some point, he didn’t know exactly when he would do it. But as the day unfolded, everything felt right.

The family had gathered for photos, and everyone headed out toward the boat — except Guy. Kayla went back inside to find him, and while they were walking down toward the water together, he stopped and proposed. Just like that, the lake, their families, and the perfect summer evening became part of their forever story. Later that night, they watched fireworks over the water in the rain, making the moment feel even more magical.

Their wedding day was just as emotional and colorful as their love story.

Kayla began the morning surrounded by the people she loves most, including a special gift of Honey Meade. As the day unfolded, both families played an important role in helping them prepare for the biggest day of their lives. Guy’s dad helped him get ready while Kayla’s mom assisted her, creating such meaningful moments before the ceremony even began.

The First Looks throughout the day were incredibly emotional. Kayla shared one with her dad that had everyone tearing up, followed by a sweet reveal with her bridesmaids. Then came the moment she finally saw Guy. During their private First Look, the two exchanged personal vows together, creating a quiet and intimate pause in the middle of such an exciting day.

One of the most visually stunning parts of the wedding was the color palette. The entire day was bursting with orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Each bridesmaid wore a different colored dress, which brought so much personality and vibrancy to the wedding party. Their bouquets were especially unique — arranged in baskets instead of traditional floral wraps — adding such a whimsical and creative touch. The flowers and décor throughout the venue perfectly tied everything together into a celebration that felt bright, joyful, and completely original.

And then came the reception… where things escalated quickly.

As Kayla and Guy made their grand entrance, guests welcomed them by twirling napkins high in the air, immediately setting the tone for the party ahead. Both dads shared welcoming speeches, while the Best Man and Maid of Honor gave heartfelt toasts. Emotions were running high all evening, especially between Kayla and her Maid of Honor, who became so emotional during the speeches that they ended up sharing a napkin while wiping away tears.

Of course, there were also plenty of hilarious moments. At one point during the reception, a few guests decided to test the theory that if there’s a line, people will stand in it no matter what it’s for. Unsurprisingly, the experiment worked perfectly, and suddenly people were lining up with absolutely no idea why.

Kayla’s dad also managed to surprise everyone when he opened his jacket to reveal a Blue and Gold shirt underneath, earning huge reactions from guests throughout the room.

During the cake cutting, the couple included a Southern tradition: a cake pull. Hidden beneath the cake were silver charms tied to ribbons for Kayla’s single friends to pull. Each charm symbolized a different future, but everyone was waiting to see who would pull the ring — symbolizing the next person to get married. The excitement in the room when the ring was revealed was unmatched.

The dance floor only got wilder from there.

Kayla and Guy shared a money dance before the reception somehow evolved into a full worm competition across the dance floor. But perhaps the biggest surprise of the night came when Kayla casually dropped into a full split in the middle of the party, leaving everyone absolutely speechless. As if the night couldn’t get any more chaotic, Guy later appeared wearing night vision goggles, which somehow felt perfectly on brand for the energy of the evening.

To close out the night, Kayla and Guy led their guests through the mansion in a joyful Second Line Dance while everyone twirled napkins overhead one final time. It was loud, celebratory, emotional, and the perfect ending to an unforgettable wedding day.

As the evening came to a close, guests gathered outside for a bubble exit while a light sprinkle of rain fell around them — one last magical moment before the newlyweds officially began their next chapter together.
