Ginny & Miles | A New Year’s Eve Wedding at The Carolina Inn

Some love stories just feel right from the very beginning, and Ginny and Miles’ story is one of them.

They first met through mutual friends at the State Fair — Ginny’s college friends and Miles’ elementary school friends bringing two worlds together in the most unexpected way. Ginny was already thinking about moving to Chapel Hill, and when she started house hunting, she made sure to schedule showings so she could spend time with Miles in between. What started as “good timing” quickly turned into something much more.

It’s only fitting that they officially became a couple on New Year’s Eve — a date that would later mean even more.

Miles proposed on Easter at Ginny’s parents’ home in Greensboro. Afterward, they went for a walk at Lake Brandt, soaking in the moment together. One of the very first people they told was Ginny’s grandmother. Ginny was incredibly close to her, and being able to share that joyful news before she passed made the engagement even more meaningful.

Their wedding day brought everything beautifully full circle. Ginny and Miles were married on New Year’s Eve at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, and the Inn was still glowing with Christmas décor. They chose to do a First Look, giving them a quiet moment together before the day truly began. We also took advantage of the stunning Christmas tree — it was the perfect backdrop and felt so fitting for the season and the day.

Throughout the evening, Ginny and Miles kept finding little moments just for themselves. At one point, they snuck away to the bar for a quick celebratory shot, and the bartenders blew kisses their way as they toasted — one of those moments that perfectly captured the joy and fun of the night.

As the countdown began, everyone gathered together, and at midnight, we rang in the New Year side by side — celebrating not only a new year, but the start of Ginny and Miles’ next chapter.
